Caustic created a community that shared songs, sounds, skins, knowledge and ideas.

Much of that material still survives — scattered across old computers, backups, websites, web archives and personal collections.

The Archive is working to bring those pieces back together, preserve them, and make them easier to discover again.

Recovered song files are examined and documented to identify their contents, including project information, machine rosters, patterns, arrangement data and other information that can be reliably extracted.

Original project files are preserved unchanged.

Organization: Metadata, structural information and musical features are used to help organize recovered projects.

Surviving presets are organized by Caustic machine and practical sound category while retaining the original preset files.
